Katie Thurber is a physician assistant working as a part of WMA’s internal medicine team.

She received her undergraduate degree from Skidmore College, and her medical training from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She is a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the American Academy of Physician’s Assistants (AAPA)

She chose internal medicine, because the field encompasses a broad range of patient care that focuses on prevention, evaluation, and treatment of both acute and chronic illness. “It represents adult care over a lifetime and fosters a productive relationship between the patient and provider,” says Thurber. “Additionally, it is an exciting specialty, requiring a strong understanding of pathophysiology. The field of internal medicine is constantly evolving and my knowledge base is expanding every day.”

Thurber believes that wellness entails a balance of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social health. “Key components to wellness are prevention and making healthy choices every day.”

A native of southern Vermont, Thurber enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, gardening, running, hiking, snowshoeing, and sewing.
